About Us

We are a community based brass band which is open
to everyone who wants to play brass and percussion
instruments. We are made up of musicians from all
over the Orkney mainland and we rehearse on a
weekly basis.




Where we’re from

Kirkwall Town Band hail from Orkney, a group of 70 islands, of which about 20 are inhabited. About 20,000 people live on Orkney, with the population of Kirkwall being around 8,500. The islands are situated 10 miles off the north coast of the Scottish mainland.

Recent News
A number of our players have gone to study music
this year. Rhona Carse (solo cornet), Callum
Thompson (1st trombone)and Cameron Thompson
(solo euphonium). We wish them all the best.




Congratulations
to Marianne McGregor (horn) and Matthew Anderson (trumpet) for auditioning and gaining places in the National Children’s Orchestra of Scotland.
Also to Rhona Carse who gained a place in the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland on trumpet.
